The college is highly selective but they also have a high placement rate among their medical school graduates. Approximately 1,800 students attend Wartburg. Students can also sign up for an internship in Washington D.C. This program provides students with the opportunity to refine their educational and career goals. There are a variety of career choices students can sign up for and they will be presented with numerous opportunities to gain real-world experience. Only 3rd and 4th year students are eligible to participate in the program.

Wartburg College is well known for being very selective. Although the college admits students on a rolling basis, the number of spaces for first-year and transfer students is limited. Students are advised to apply as early as possible. Applications can be submitted online. A personal statement/writing sample is required of all applicants, so be prepared to write an essay.

Transfer students that have a financial need may be eligible for up to $7,000 grant. The amount given to the student is dependent on his or her grade point average. Students must maintain a minimum 2.7 grade point average to continue to qualify for this grant after they have been accepted into the school and program.

All applicants are assigned an admissions counselor who will guide them through the process.

Here is how much it will cost per year to attend Wartburg College:

  • Tuition: $31,890
  • Fees: $850
  • Room: $4,330

Although parents and students can pay for tuition all at once, Wartburg College does offer a payment plan that allows students to break up the cost over 8, 9, or 10 months. There are also a number of scholarships and grants available from the school and federal student aid programs. Work-study opportunities are available as well that pay up to $2,500 per year.

Campus Life

The college requires all full-time students to live on campus. All requests to live off campus will be reviewed by the housing committee. In general, students who are married, have dependent children, 23 years old or above, or living with parents within 30 miles of the campus are exempt from the on-campus housing requirement.

There are 8 residence halls including two that are for first-year students and one for seniors only. The rooms can fit 4, 6, or 8 people and are furnished with desks, chairs, dressers, beds, closets, and window blinds. Wireless Internet and cable television is available in every residence hall.

Students who want to participate in activities at the school have plenty of options. The school has an active sports program, and men and women can join the baseball, football, basketball, cross country, golf, track, soccer, tennis, softball, or volleyball teams. In addition to a campus ministry, students can join school clubs such as Phi Beta Lambda, The Castle (radio station), Catholic Knights, Wartburg Wind Ensemble, and EARTH.
