Waldorf College Forest City

Waldorf College is a for-profit, four-year university located in Forest City, Iowa. The college was founded in 1903 by Reverend C.S. Salveson. A battle for market share between two first-class hotels resulted in the purchase of the Waldorf Hotel by Salveson who then turned the piece of real estate into a college. The school was associated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. In 2010, however, the school was sold to Mayes Education – a company specializes in distance education. As a result, Waldorf College now offers distance learning courses. Approximately 580 students attend the school. Notable alumni include Best Buy CEO Brad Anderson, John K Hanson, and Dan Meyer.
