Clinton Community College

Located in Clinton, Iowa, Clinton Community College is part of the Eastern Iowa Community College District along with Scott Community College and Muscatine Community College. The school consists of two campuses: the main campus located on Lincoln Boulevard and the Graphic Arts Technology Center on Manufacturing Drive. The school was founded in 1946 and its first class consisted primarily of soldiers returning from World War II. Funding for the college is provided by the Paul B. Sharar Foundation.

Educational Programs

Approximately 1,800 students attend Clinton Community College each year. The school awards two-year Associate of Arts degrees and provides training for a number of careers. The academic programs you will find at the college include:

In addition to onsite classes, the school offers online courses that students can complete in the comfort of their homes. Several of the school’s Associate of Arts degrees and career programs can be completed entirely online. A number of continuing education classes are also available for people that need to learn specific skills or who must complete continuing education requirements for licensing or certification.

A study abroad program is available for students that wish to broaden their educational experience. Students can travel to Jordan, Poland, Denmark, Brazil, Costa Rica, France, India, Italy, or England. To be eligible to participate in the study abroad program you must:

  • Be at least 18
  • Have completed a minimum of 12 credits
  • Maintained a 2.75 grade point average
  • Completed one semester of a foreign language
  • Have obtained the minimum English placement score or completed Basic Writing
  • Have obtained the minimum reading placement score or completed Intro to College Reading
  • Approval from the lead faculty and the International Programs Office

Admissions Information

Clinton Community College is an open-admission school, meaning everyone over the age of 16 will be admitted. However, that does not mean you will be automatically accepted into a specific program. There may be additional admission requirements for certain programs like nursing, and it is best to contact the school directly for more information about the degree you are interested in.

Students are required to submit an application, ACT scores, and complete the COMPASS test. The scores from those tests, though, are only used to place students in the most appropriate classes for their skill and education levels.

Tuition Costs

Tuition at Clinton Community College is based on residency and is as follows:

  • In State: $128 per credit
  • Out of State: $192 per credit
  • Online Classes: $150 per credit (includes $28 technology fee)

There are a number of financial aid options available for paying for your education. The school offers scholarships, direct loans, and payment plans. Need-based grants are available through the federal government and you need to use the FAFSA to apply for those.

Campus Life

Although it is a community college, the school does have an athletic program for interested students. Intercollegiate and intramural sports programs available include basketball, volleyball, softball, baseball, soccer, and golf for men and women.
